Mail-In Votes Favor Democrats In Fair Lawn Council Race

Democrats Gail Rottenstrich and Josh Reinitz both accumulated more than 1,100 mail-in votes, according to the Bergen County Clerk totals.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Mail-in votes could be the difference in the race for Fair Lawn council, with Deputy Mayor Josh Reinitz closing the distance on the two Republican challengers.

A tight Fair Lawn council race looked like it could lead to one Republican and one Democrat garnering a seat each on Tuesday night with all precincts reporting early voting and election day unofficial vote totals.

Deputy Mayor Josh Reinitz and Council Member Gail Rottenstrich are running for the two open seats, while Republicans Cindy Montano and Glen Callons will serve as their opponents.

Here are the latest unofficial early voting and election day vote totals from Bergen County:

  • Gail Friedberg Rottenstrich — 4,349
  • Joshua Reinitz — 4,250
  • Cindy Montano — 4,393
  • Glen P. Callons — 4,335

Reinitz found himself down by more than 100 votes, but unofficial mail-in votes may have flipped the script. Here are those totals:

  • Rottenstrich — 1,156
  • Reinitz — 1,122
  • Montano — 310
  • Callons — 294
