FAIR LAWN, NJ – Stop riding the shoulder or face a ticket, Fair Lawn police are reminding drivers.

Depending upon time of day, Route 208, a 10-mile highway running from Oakland to Fair Lawn, is often congested, but police say that’s no excuse to ignore the rules of the road.

Sgt. Brian Metzler said motorists trying to bypass traffic by using the shoulder has “always been a problem” in the area and can cause accidents as other vehicles merge onto the highway.
