Fair Lawn's Yoona Kim To Play In Girls Junior PGA Championship

Kim, a student at Immaculate Heart Academy, was the individual New Jersey state champion this season.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — New Jersey high school girls champion golfer Yoona Kim will compete in the Professional Golf Association's Girls Junior Championship this weekend.

Kim will be one of 144 people competing in the championship. The championship begins Tuesday at the Keney Park Golf Course in Hartford, Connecticut.

Kim, a student at Immaculate Heart Academy, was the individual state champion at the New Jersey Girls' Tournament of Championship in May.

"There were a lot of difficult hole locations, and the wind was a factor. I wanted to take advantage of the short holes coming in," Kim told the New Jersey State Golf Association after she won. "This is really big for me. I always had good seasons, but I was never able to pull it off. This shows my hard work has paid off."

Kim has played in three previous U.S. Girls' Junior Championships.
