FAIR LAWN, NJ — An overturned container truck is blocking lanes of traffic on Route 208 at Maple Avenue in Fair Lawn, police officials said.

The container truck was being pulled backward by a heavy-duty tow truck, belonging to Classic Towing out of Paterson, police said.

Officers responded to the scene at 10:17 a.m. Wednesday morning to find that the container truck had hit the highway overpass, causing it to flip off the tow and land on the roadway.

The container was filled with electronic recycling, some of which spilled onto the roadway. Worse, the fuel tank of the towed vehicle was pierced during the accident, spilling diesel fuel onto the highway.

Glen Rock Police, Fair Lawn Rescue Squad and New Jersey Department of Transportation employees responded to the scene for clean-up and traffic assistance.
