Former Fair Lawn Mayor Mary Burdick Dead At 100: Report

Mary Burdick served three terms as mayor despite not entering local politics until she was in her 70s, the report said.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Mary Burdick, a three-term mayor who lived in the borough since the 1940s, died Sunday, NorthJersey.com reported.

Burdick served on the school board in the 1970s, as did her husband, Roland, who died in 1986, and was asked to run for municipal office in 1987 by then-councilman Robert Gordon, now a state senator, according to the report.

Burdick served on the council until 1995; her colleagues selected her as mayor in 1991, 1992 and 1995, according to the report.
