Funeral Arrangements Set For Fair Lawn Cop Edward Egan

Egan died Monday. He was a Fair Lawn Police officer for 27 years.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Funeral arrangements have been set for borough police officer and firefighter Edward Egan.

Egan, 52, was a 27-year Fair Lawn officer. He died Monday surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong Fair Lawn resident, a graduate of Fair Lawn High School, and a firefighter with Company 2 since he was 18. (See related: Fair Lawn Police Officer Ed Egan Died Monday)

"He loved being a police officer and you could always count on him," said Fair Lawn Police Chief Glen Cauwels. "He was funny, he loved life and he was a great friend. I know I speak for the entire department when I say, 'he will be truly missed, but not forgotten.'" (See related: Fair Lawn Police Officer Ed Egan Remembered)

Egan enjoyed motorcycle riding, boating, and fishing, his obituary states.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jacqueline (nee Fagley) and James.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; siblings, James, Jacquelyn, and Charlene; and step-children Logan, Hailey, and Douglas.

Visitation with family and friends is Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Van Riper-Ellis-Broadway Baptist Church, 7-01 River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral service is 7 p.m. Saturday at the church. Cremation will be private.
