Inside Fair Lawn: 'One Pound at a Time' Metzler Weigh-In

Wayne Robbins attended the Fair Lawn Green Team-sponsored "One Pound at a Time: Reduce Weight" kickoff at the Community Center on Feb. 20

The Fair Lawn Green Team kicked off its "One Pound at a Time" campaign on Feb. 20 with a clean eating presentation by Valley Hospital nutritionist Danielle Cinnante and a public weigh-in by borough manager Tom Metzler.

The event drew about 40 people who were given the opportunity to speak with representatives from Lucille Roberts gym and get additional information fitness tips from the borough's Parks and Recreation department.

Metzler, the "One Pound at a Time" poster boy who weighed in at 261 pounds at the meeting, will have his weight loss efforts tracked over the next month. Residents are encouraged to pledge money per pound Metzler sheds, which will go toward home repairs in Bergen County towns hit hard by Superstorm Sandy.

The Green Team's next phase of its "One Pound at a Time" initiative launches April 24 at 7:30 p.m. with a composting workship at the Community Center.
