FAIR LAWN, NJ — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We're working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Nicholas has a big heart, and is compassionate and always willing to pitch in and help out. He has contributed his basketball knowledge and skills for the past two years in helping the high school basketball coach teach the young kids in the Fair Lawn basketball program. In the eighth grade, he joined one of the teachers at his school in helping children with disabilities when they would have events, such as the dance in the recreation center.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

He is a great listener and loyal.
