The Fair Lawn Economic Development Corporation, in partnership with the Fair Lawn Chamber of Commerce and Fair Lawn’s Main Street NJ Program, held its second annual Small Business Saturday commemoration event on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

Small Business Saturday is an American shopping holiday held during the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the United States. The goal of Small Business Saturday is to encourage local spending and support community businesses.

Throughout the United States, towns, groups and businesses celebrate Small Business Saturday in different ways. In accordance with the mission of Small Business Saturday, the Fair Lawn Economic Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce distributed commemorative tote “Shop Small” bags filled with local gift certificates, restaurant gift cards, coupons and other valuable items. The bags were distributed underneath the Radburn Plaza Building, which is in the heart of Fair Lawn’s state designated Main Street NJ District.

“The goal of Small Business Saturday in Fair Lawn is to get people shopping at businesses throughout the entire municipality,” explained Fair Lawn Economic Development Corporation Board President Abigail Polizois. “The gift cards and coupons in each of the commemorative Shop Small bags ranged from businesses on River Road to Fair Lawn Avenue to Broadway.”

The event in Fair Lawn continues to grow in popularity, in less than an hour nearly all available bags were claimed by eager Fair Lawn shoppers. “The fact that so many people turned out for the event, lining up even before we set up, shows just how great of a place Fair Lawn is for businesses” asserted Fair Lawn Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Toni DeLisi.
