Tennis Star Djokovic Staying in New Jersey During U.S. Open Tournament

Top seed chooses to go with suburbs over distraction during Grand Slam event, report says.

You don’t become the top seed of a Grand Slam tournament without proper preparation.

That’s why tennis star Novak Djokovic has chosen to stay at a home in New Jersey during the U.S. Open, played at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens for the next two weeks.

According to 10sballs.com, Djokovic purposely avoids Manhattan hotels and the distractions of the city so he can preserve his energy for the tournament. Djokovic and his team stay at a friend’s house about 10 minutes outside the city, the report said.

The world’s second-ranked tennis player said travelling to the stadium – with a car and driver provided by the tournament – gives him time for peace and quiet, the report said.
