Valley Hospital's Sports Institute Holds Free Concussion Awareness Seminar March 11

Discussions will highlight issues like second impact syndrome, post-concussion syndrome, return-to-play and return-to-learning guidelines.

The Valley Hospital Sports Institute will host a free concussion awareness seminar for coaches, parents, and recreation/athletic directors on Wednesday, March 11 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The seminar will include presentations covering topics related to the most current standards of care in the management of sports concussion injury.

“Discussions, which will be led by health care professionals with expertise in concussion injuries, will highlight issues such as second impact syndrome, post-concussion syndrome and return-to-play and return-to-learning guidelines,” according to a press release.

The seminar will conclude with an overview of Valley’s baseline and post-injury ImPACT testing program and a question and answer session with the speakers.

Guest speaker will be Thomas Bottiglieri, D.O., from The Valley Hospital Department of Family Medicine and the event will be hosted by the following panel of certified athletic trainers on staff at Valley’s Sports Institute:

Attendees will receive certificates of participation. Coffee and a light snack will be provided.

The event will be held in the hospital’s auditorium, located at 223 N. Van Dien Avenue in Ridgewood.
