Why I Walk to End Alzheimer's: Mark Richards

Fair Lawn resident and National Walk Team, Fairway Independent Mortgage, make big strides in moving the Association's mission forward

The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter (AAGNJ) is spotlighting people who are making a difference in the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia, by participating in the Walk To End Alzheimer’s (WTEA) - the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Today we say thank you to Mark Richards of Fair Lawn, NJ, and Senior Mortgage Advisor with Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, a participant in the Bergen-Passaic to End Alzheimer’s tentatively scheduled this year for Sunday, October 16 at Overpeck Park, 199 Challenger Road in Ridgefield Park, NJ. Mark’s extraordinary passion and dedication to helping all those affected by the disease has inspired and motivated others to get involved. As a first-time participant in 2021, Mark achieved Grand Champion's Club status by raising over $1,700!

"Mark was an invaluable participant in our Bergen-Passaic Walk and played an integral role in making Fairway Independent Mortgage a National Walk Team that registered teams in 20 states raising nearly $92,000. We are grateful for his, and Fairway Independent Mortgage, support of all those affected by Alzheimer's and dementia both here in New Jersey and around the United States", said Casey Snyder, Director of Development, AAGNJ.

The funds raised by their efforts, and others, helps propel the Association’s mission forward - accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

Mark explains, “I am committed to assisting seniors find financial and emotional freedom through the strategic use and benefits of reverse mortgages. I can help adults discover options that best suit their needs - to age with dignity while staying in their home.”
