The idea is simple and spreading—namely, the power that can be unlocked when women pool their funds and give collectively. Impact 100 Jersey Coast was founded on this principle and brings women together throughout Monmouth County to improve their communities by pooling their charitable dollars to fund high-impact grants to nonprofit organizations.

In 2016, Monmouth County moms Deirdre Spiropoulos and Heather Burke launched Impact 100 Jersey Coast. This giving circle model makes large-scale philanthropy accessible to a wider range of women and profoundly changes the communities they live in.

The concept is simple. Any woman is eligible to become a member. Each member makes an annual tax-deductible donation of $1,100. $1,000 is applied directly to the Impact grant fund and pooled together to award six-figure grants to local nonprofits. Impact is looking for women to join us before our 2021 membership cycle closes on March 15th and the final amount of total funding available is announced.

Local nonprofits are invited to submit applications for a proposed project or program. “We want to empower local nonprofits to dream big and imagine how a large-scale grant can transform the work they do and the communities they serve” said Vice President and Cofounder, Heather Burke. Member-led committees review these proposals and nominate finalists for the consideration of the entire membership at Impact Jersey Coast’s Annual Meeting. Each woman votes for her finalist(s) of choice and grants are awarded that evening. All members are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the grant review and award process.

Since its inception, Impact Jersey Coast has raised more than $1.6 million dollars, all of which has come from local women, and funded projects from 14 nonprofit projects in Monmouth county. “Our mission is to raise awareness of our community’s most pressing needs and fund transformational grants for high impact projects addressing those needs” said President and Cofounder Deirdre Spiropoulos.

As an all-volunteer and women-led organization, Impact Jersey Coast continues to face challenges amidst the pandemic but remains steadfast in its mission to recruit as many members as possible before the approaching March 15th membership deadline.
