VINCENTOWN, NJ - A lifeguard shortage has delayed swimming at the Atsion Recreation Area, officials said.

In a Saturday morning Facebook post, New Jersey State Parks, Forests & Historic Sites announced that swimming will not be permitted on Saturday due to the shortage.

Although lifeguarded swimming is expected to reopen Sunday, the service noted that a Sunday closure is possible as well.

Atsion Recreation Area is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Swimming is typically open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; swimming is only permitted at the recreation area when a lifeguard is present.

If you’re looking for another state park to cool off in, don’t swing by Parvin State Park either as poor water quality has closed down its swimming area since Wednesday.
