Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Fleeing Camden Co. Shooting: Police

Members of the U.S. Marshals​ Service arrested him days after he shot and hospitalized another man, authorities said.

CLEMENTON, NJ — A suspect accused of shooting a man and fleeing the scene has been found and charged with attempted murder, officials said.

A 20-year-old man from Williamstown was charged Thursday in relation to a shooting that hospitalized a man the week prior in Clementon, authorities said. Police have not disclosed the suspect's name.

The shooting occurred just before 10:15 p.m. July 19 at the intersection of Princeton and Elm avenues, according to Clementon police. The victim, 20, was driven to the hospital in a privately owned vehicle. He was listed in stable condition the day after the incident.

After further investigation, the suspect was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful handgun possession and second-degree possession of a handgun for unlawful purposes.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service's Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested the suspect Thursday. He was placed in the Camden County Correctional Facility, pending a pretrial detention hearing.
