STRATFORD, NJ — South Jersey Pretzel and Water Ice's last day in business was June 11, the owners of the Stratford shop said in a Facebook post.

The owners cited a dispute with their landlord as the reason for the closure.

Customers were dismayed by the news.

"That's really sad. Such a great place. Been coming to you for many years," said a woman identifying herself as Carlmichele Niedzwiadek on the business's Facebook page.

"Best pretzels & homemade ice cream. Cannot believe Stratford is losing another great business," added another woman who identified herself as Heather Goodapple Brown.

The South Jersey Pretzel and Water Ice Shop first opened along the boardwalk in 1972 in Ocean City as the Ocean City Pretzel and Water Ice, then moved its operations to the White Horse Pike in Stratford and renamed itself, according to the company's website.
