HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Nonprofit groups are keystone community organizations in the Hillsborough area. Fortunately, there is no shortage of organizations to volunteer or get behind financially, and that need your help.

Here are six outstanding nonprofit groups you should know about in the Hillsborough area:

1. Steps Together: Is a Hillsborough based 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to inspiring our community to pay their blessings forward and support Somerset County families facing a medical crisis.

2. Hillsborough C.A.N. (Community Assistance Network): They help residents in need of temporary food assistance. Donations may be made to the food bank through one of 3 ways - Food and non-perishable items; Gift Cards; and Monetary Donation.

3. Amwell Animal Rescue Group(AARG): Their mission at Amwell Animal Rescue Group is to rescue, care for, and rehome unwanted and homeless pets. AARG is 100 percent volunteers. All donations are tax-deductible. Donations are gladly accepted at Amwell Pet Supply, 434 Route 206 South, Hillsborough, NJ 08844 or can be mailed to that address. They also accept donations through paypal.me/aargnj.

4. GiGi’s Playhouse of Hillsborough: They offer support from diagnosis through adulthood, to build confidence, and to send a global message of acceptance for all, while changing the way the world sees Down syndrome. A donation of any amount will help us provide programs and awareness.

5. Safe + Sound Somerset: Since 1978, Safe+Sound Somerset has been answering the call of domestic violence survivors – often literally – with calls to our 24/7 helpline that are the first step in breaking free from the domestic violence and sexual abuse for many who are being beaten, battered, and berated. Volunteers and donations are needed.

6. Visions and Pathways: Visions and Pathways has helped abused, neglected, homeless, missing and at-risk youth since 1970. Monetary contributions to meet the day-to-day expenses such as food, bedding, heat and electricity, recreational activities and counseling services.
