Report Of Person With Gun In Hillsborough Turned Out To Be Toy: Police

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A report of a person with a gun in Hillsborough prompted multiple police cars to respond on Monday night.

Around 7 p.m. on Aug. 12, Hillsborough Police Officers responded to the area of Concord Street for the report of an individual with a firearm, said Hillsborough Police Captain Scott W. McCarthy.

Multiple community groups on Facebook in both Hillsborough and Manville reported seeing around seven police cars responding down Route 206 and then Camplain Road toward Manville.

"Once on scene it was deemed to be a toy gun," said McCarthy. "And there was no threat to the safety of the community."
