HOBOKEN, NJ — Mile-square Hoboken has long been said to have lost more community members on the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks than any zip code in the U.S. Back in 2001, the New York Times wrote that the city had lost "39 of its 39,000 residents." The city now recognizes 57 community members lost, most residents, former residents and business owners.
