Discounts In Holmdel: Ocean State Job Lot To Open Later In 2024

HOLMDEL, NJ — A new option for discount shopping is coming to the northeastern area of Monmouth County in a few months.

Rhode Island-based Ocean State Job Lot is coming to Holmdel in late summer or early fall, the company says, on Route 35 and Union Avenue at Kohl's Plaza, filling the former Stein Mart space.

The Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) discount retail chain has 153 stores in the Northeast - and is named for the Rhode Island nickname - the Ocean State.

The new location will be the chain’s eighth in New Jersey and the second in Monmouth County. There's a store in Freehold Township at 600 Trotters' Way. The company closed its former location in Shrewsbury in 2019.

To be located at 2145 Route 35 and Union Avenue in Holmdel, the leased location will contain more than 37,000 square feet of shopping space, "restoring vibrancy to this former Stein Mart location and creating new jobs in the community," the company said.

The Holmdel location will hire for various positions, including store leadership, supervisory, and full-time and part-time associates, offering competitive pay and benefits packages. The online application process will begin later this spring, the company said.
