Historic Walnford's Mill Demonstrations Resume In April

UPPER FREEHOLD, NJ — Once again visitors to Historic Walnford, Upper Freehold, will be able to experience the rumble, clack and whoosh of the site’s 19thcentury gristmill. Starting on Saturday, April 6, the gristmill will resume demonstrations on weekend afternoons from 1-4 p.m. These free demonstrations continue through November.

Besides the gristmill, the site also features the pre-Revolutionary Waln House, an 1879 carriage house, and an assortment of other structures. The site's historical buildings are open daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Upcoming events at Historic Walnford include Spring Cleaning from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday, May 4 & 5. Visitors are invited to experience life in the 19th century as they try some (happily) forgotten household chores - beating a rug, scrubbing laundry with a washboard and dusting with feathers. Then Sunday, May 19 is Walnford Day. This annual celebration of the site features horse-drawn wagons, historic demonstrations and hands-on activities. Admission and parking are free.
