Holmdel Police Warn Public Of 'Dishonest' Solicitation

Holmdel police advise the public to be aware of dishonest donation schemes, and released a photo of one identified as such by police.

HOLMDEL, NJ — Holmdel police are warning the public to be aware of what they said was a dishonest solicitation, just as legitimate requests for donations will be made in the holiday season.

"We have experienced an increase in unregistered solicitors throughout Holmdel and surrounding towns," police said.

And they distributed the above photo on social media to warn the public.

Although many charitable organizations work with the highest level of accountability, police said, "the attached photograph is an example of dishonest solicitation."

"The solicitors used information from a fundraiser that occurred overseas and had no connection to the organization," police said.

They are warning the public to be cautious and to "make sure you know who is receiving your donation."
