HOLMDEL, NJ — The Holmdel district closed schools Tuesday because of unsafe road conditions, but will need to make up the day, the superintendent said.

"After assessing the current road conditions and the forecasted snowfall for the next several hours, and in consultation with the Holmdel Police Department and DPW, regrettably, I have made the decision to close our schools for the day due to unsafe road conditions," Superintendent J. Scott Cascone said in an announcement on the district website.

But he said the reserved emergency/snow days have now been exhausted, and have to be made up.
