HOLMDEL, NJ — William C. Strandberg, 87, of Holmdel, passed away peacefully on Sep. 7, at home surrounded by his family.

Strandberg was born and raised in East Orange. He attended Seton Hall University for his undergraduate studies and then went on to New York University for his Masters in Business Administration. He began his long career in 1960 on Wall Street as a stockbroker for Mcdonald and Company. He remained loyal to his firm and remained with them as they went through many acquisitions and mergers eventually becoming Morgan Stanley.

Strandberg loved Wall Street and cared for his work and his clients. He retired as a vice president from Morgan Stanley in 2011 at 78 years old. His success, loyalty, integrity and calm and kind demeanor left a legendary mark of respect from all those who had the privilege of working with him.

In 1959 Strandberg married the love of his life, Patricia Shea. The two started their life together as man and wife in Montclair then moved back to East Orange until they built a home and settled in 1972 in Holmdel. He was a man of strong faith. He signed everything with "GBUA" next to it, meaning God bless us all.

Strandberg loved life. He loved living and being active. In his 60s and 70s he was still skiing and walking 18 holes on the Hominy Hills golf course. He would go sledding with his many grandchildren, boating with his children and loved to swim. He loved the water, whether it was the ocean, a lake or a pool, he would get everyone in for a swim and some sort of game or competition. He was a doer. He ziplined in Mexico, he went hot air ballooning and flew in different types of fun aircrafts. He loved to travel with his wife all over, especially to Europe. He enjoyed learning the rich history wherever he traveled.

Strandberg is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, his daughter Patricia Weber, his son Bill Strandberg and his wife Chrissy, his son Stephen Strandberg, his daughter Sharon Lynch and her husband Dan and his son Dan Strandberg and his wife Stacey. William leaves behind 18 grandchildren, nine grandsons Alex, Billy, Brian, Connor, Daniel, Danny, Johnny, Mitchell and Tristan, nine granddaughters Ashley, Ava, Ayden, Cavan, Danielle, Kaycee, Lauren, Sadie and Tatum, and two great-grandchildren, Avery and Austin.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel.
