Michael C. Sachs Again Named Hazlet Mayor For 2024

The Hazlet Township Committee reorganized for 2024, with Michael Sachs chosen as mayor; Peter Terranova named deputy mayor.

HAZLET, NJ — Michael C. Sachs, who was re-elected to the Township Committee in an uncontested election in November, was sworn into office to serve another three-year term.

Sachs, who was mayor in 2023, was again chosen to be mayor for 2024. Sachs was first elected to the Township Committee in 1997, and has served as either mayor or deputy mayor several times since.

Michael Glackin, also elected in an uncontested race to fill a one-year unexpired term on the Township Committee, was also sworn into office.

Glackin was first elected to the Township Committee in 2016 for a three-year term, and again in 2019 for another full term. In 2022, he filled an unexpired one-year term. In 2023, he filled another unexpired one-year term. He has served as mayor in 2020 and deputy mayor in 2022.

The Township Committee members are all Republicans.

Monmouth County Commissioner Susan Kiley, a former mayor herself of Hazlet and Township Committee member, administered the oaths of office to Sachs and Glackin.

Committeeman Peter Terranova was named deputy mayor. Terranova joined the governing body in 2022 when he was appointed to fill a vacant seat. After winning the November 2022 election, he is currently serving a two-year unexpired term ending in 2024.

Also in attendance at the Jan. 2 ceremony were Assembly members Gerry Scharfenberger and Victoria Flynn, R-District 13.
