JERSEY SHORE — A wet weekend is planned ahead for the Jersey Shore according to forecasters. The silver lining? The rain just might hold up for trick or treaters on Sunday.

Just days after a powerful nor'easter hit the state and led to serious floods in many towns, the National Weather Service has a coastal flood advisory issued through 6 p.m. on Thursday for Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties.

Up to one foot of inundation above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

"At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible," the National Weather Service said.

There is also a coastal flood advisory issued for Friday afternoon and gale-force winds and/or very rough seas are on the forecast.

Minor coastal flooding is possible on Saturday, as well as additional coastal flooding into the weekend, especially in the back bays.

"A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood," said the National Weather Service said.

Drivers should not leave their cars in places that as prone to flooding or drive through floodwaters, as they may be deeper than they appear.
