Obituary: Doris Knapp Borchert, 92, of Hazlet: Born in Newark; Business Graduate

Doris Knapp Borchert, 92, of Hazlet, died on September 26, 2014 in Holmdel. She was born in Newark on March 8, 1922 to Howard Clinton Knapp and Ruth Mead Knapp. She grew up in Belleville, graduating from Belleville High School in 1939. She also attended the Burroughs Business School in Newark. She lived in North Arlington for nine years before moving to Hazlet in 1957. She did office work for 13 years for three different companies in the Newark area.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Borchert in March 2007 and a daughter, who died in infancy. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kathy Borchert of Aberdeen; brother, Stewart Knapp of PA; her late cousin LaVerne’s daughter Elaine of CA; dear friend Jenny of Red Bank and the Dickerson’s of NC

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 7-9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
