Playa Bowls To Bring A Taste Of The Beach To Holmdel

HOLMDEL, NJ – A surf-inspired superfood storefront will make its debut in Holmdel on Saturday. Touted as the Jersey Shore’s original acai bowl shop, the storefront will host a grand opening celebration this weekend featuring giveaway prizes, live music and a chance to win free acai bowls for a year.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the superfruit bowl shop will host a live DJ, as well as give away prizes and announce social media raffle winners. The first 50 guests to arrive will also receive a free acai bowl from the storefront.

The new location will be located in the Holmdel Towne Center and serves as Playa Bowls’ 51st location in the state and 92nd store in the nation.

Founded by surfers Abby Taylor and Rob Giuliani, the chain was inspired by the post-surf acai and pitaya bowls popular in beach communities in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, California, and Hawaii. Playa Bowls can be made vegan and gluten-free, and can be altered for Whole 30, Keto, and Paleo diets.

The Holmdel storefront's owner, Bobby Howell, finds the brand’s dedication to sustainable and healthy living inspiring. According to the owner, Playa Bowls is representative of a lifestyle authentic to many surfers like himself.

“I wanted to open a Playa Bowls because the brand serves health conscious food and drinks and exemplifies the surfing lifestyle that I live by,” said Howell in a statement. “I am very excited for the Holmdel community to fall in love with the product like I did.”
