HOLMDEL, NJ — Plans to make a Route 4 (Holmdel Road) intersection at North Beers Street a one-lane "roundabout" will be explained at an information session next Tuesday, March 19, at the Holmdel Municipal Building.

The Public Information Center meeting is to inform local residents, officials, businesses and the general public about the intersection safety improvement project - a project many years in he making, according to the Monmouth County officials leading the project.

The proposed roundabout has been on the table for several years. The project has been considered at least since 2018, according to a past Patch article.

Township Administrator Jay Delaney said the county project is currently in the design/public information stage, and construction isn’t anticipated until 2026-2027. This phase is funded with federal dollars, he added.

The session will be hosted by Monmouth County, in cooperation with the Township of Holmdel, the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, and the Federal Highway Administration.

The project includes the construction of a single-lane roundabout. It is currently in the design phase and will be funded for construction with FHWA’s Highway Safety Improvement Program Funds, the county said in a notice.

Officials will inform the public of the project’s purpose and need, proposed design, progress to date and the federal process/requirements for construction.

County engineering staff, a NJTPA representative and the consulting design engineer will be available to answer questions.

The meeting is Tuesday, March 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a presentation followed by a Q&A session. It will take place at the Holmdel Township Municipal Building, 4 Crawfords Corner Road in Holmdel.
