YMCA Celebrates Third Consecutive Top Workplace Award

Employee Feedback Highlights Exceptional Workplace Culture and Community Commitment

For the third year in a row, YMCA of Greater Monmouth County was recognized as a Top Workplace by NJ Advance Media, reaffirming its position as an exemplary employer in the Garden State.

The nonprofit stands among 98 nonprofits and companies honored with the award, ranking 14th in the large company category of 500 or more employees.

The NJ Advance Media recognition is entirely derived from employee feedback collected through a survey conducted by Energage, LLC, an employee engagement technology firm. The confidential survey uniquely measures the employee experience and its component themes, including employees feeling “respected and supported, enabled to grow, and empowered to execute.”

“Our employees' voices are at the heart of this recognition,” said Laurie Goganzer, president and chief executive officer of the Shrewsbury-based YMCA association. “What makes this award so special is knowing that it comes from our team’s honest feedback. It underscores our commitment to creating an environment where every team member feels valued, heard, and empowered to contribute to our mission.”

Currently in its 150th year of delivering programs that build a “healthy spirit, mind and body for all,” the Y serves 36,000 people in communities throughout Monmouth County and areas of Middlesex and Ocean counties, Goganzer added.

As the organization’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Maureen Simons said she is pleased that “staff know that they are a part of an organization that is dedicated to helping our community grow and thrive, and that what they do every day makes a difference.”

“Recognition like this helps to highlight our organization as a great place to work. It brings awareness to those who may not have thought about working at the Y and builds visibility of the life-changing programs and diverse services that we provide to strengthen people and communities,” Simons said.

For those interested in joining the Y team, Simons noted that hiring fairs are scheduled in August for a variety of part-time and full-time positions in child care, counseling, fitness, wellness, sports and aquatics. Additionally, signing bonuses ranging from $250 to $1,000 are being offered.

Hiring fairs are scheduled at 10 a.m. to noon and 5-7 p.m. at these Y locations:

  • Tuesday, August 6, Freehold Family YMCA, 470 East Freehold Road, Freehold
  • Tuesday, August 13, Red Bank Family YMCA, 166 Maple Ave., Red Bank
  • Wednesday, August 14, Old Bridge Family YMCA, 1 Mannino Dr., Old Bridge.
