Dateline: [NEWTON, NJ AUGUST 2023] — Under the direction of newly appointed Head Coach, James Robertson, the Sussex Skylanders Football Team is preparing to kick off their 2023 season. A newcomer of just three years to the NJCAA Region 19 Conference, a Division 1 JUCO (junior college), the Skylanders will kick off the season with an away game against Army Prep on September 8th.

Home games for the Skylanders this year will be hosted at Lenape Valley High School, with the first home game set for 9/ 16 against William Trade School. Other matchups this season include the Skylanders taking on Thaddeus Stevens College, Lackawanna, Hudson Valley CC, Hocking College, Georgia Military College and Erie CC. Live coverage of home games is scheduled to be available through Morris Sussex Sports.

“This is an incredible opportunity to lead our football program here at Sussex,” said Robertson. “Sussex has always been home for me – it’s where my college career began and where I returned for my Nursing Degree after graduating from Frostburg State University. I couldn’t be more excited to be the head football coach here and help guide this program into the future. Expectations are high for our student-athletes. The goals for this year remain the same as last year when I was the defensive coordinator. We want to develop these young men both on and off the field, play dominating TEAM football and set them up for success in the future.”
