Downed Poles Close Roads, Cause Outages In Hopatcong

A local fire station is open as a warming center.

HOPATCONG, NJ — Snapped poles are causing road closures and power outages in Hopatcong Monday afternoon, police said.

Brooklyn Mountain Road is closed between Queens Trail and Geneva Trail. Two poles have snapped, and the power company says power should be temporarily restored sometime this afternoon.

Byram Bus is aware of the closure, police said.

JCP&L is reporting 394 customers without power in Hopatcong currently. Firehouse #3 is open as a warming center for residents in need.
