E-Waste Disposal In Sussex County Saturday, Shredding On Friday

Free electronics recycling collection runs from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and paper shredding from 9 a.m. to noon.

LAFAYETTE, NJ - Spring cleaning can be a breeze in Sussex County with some upcoming events this weekend at the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority, including paper shredding on Friday and electronics recycling on Saturday.

On Friday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, SCMUA, located at State Route 94 in Lafayette, is hosting its monthly paper shredding day. Held the third Friday of each month with SK Paper Shred, shredding costs begin at $6 and are based on volume, with no limit. Payment is by cash or check only.

SCMUA’s upcoming e-waste event on Saturday, May 22 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., is free for the first five items dropped off, with a scale fee applied for larger quantities. No appliances will be accepted and types of electronic waste could include: televisions, computers, hard drives, VCRs, CD players, CDs, DVDs, cell phones, fax machines and copiers.

All Sussex County residents, businesses, municipalities, school districts and county agencies are welcome to dispose of these types of items on Saturday. Future electronics recycling days for 2021 are July 24 and Oct. 23.

During both the paper shredding and e-waste days, customers will be asked to stay in their vehicles with windows down. Customers and staff must also wear masks and maintain social distancing.
