HOPATCONG, NJ - Canine community members will be able to bring their human counterparts out for a fun time in Hopatcong since the Jefferson Field Dog Park opened this past Saturday morning.

Hopatcong Borough Mayor Michael Francis and Hopatcong Councilman Bradley Hoferkamp helped to cut the ribbon, along with Aidan Poland of Hopatcong Boy Scout Troop 88, who worked on some portions of the dog park for his Eagle Scout project.

The park is located in a section of Jefferson Field, on 59 Coolidge Trail, with separate fenced-in areas for large and small dogs.

As part of his end of the project, Poland fundraised in excess of his $3,000 goal, to build obstacle courses and benches for both sections of the park. He also organized volunteers to help him with the project.

Members of Hopatcong Borough’s Police Department joined in on Saturday’s ribbon cutting, offering special congratulations to Poland for his accomplishment on its Facebook Page.
