How Many Inches Of Snow Will Hopatcong, Sparta Get, And When?

There's about an 80 percent chance that Hopatcong and Sparta could see up to 5 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

HOPATCONG, NJ — Sunny skies are expected to return on Sunday, but not before snow blankets the Hopatcong and Sparta areas on Saturday.

A Winter Weather Advisory for Hopatcong and Sparta began Friday night at 7 p.m. and is expected to last through Saturday at 3 p.m. The storm could bring up to 5 inches of snow to Hopatcong and Sparta, along with wind gusts as high as 35 mph. Wind chills may drop as low as -10 degrees, according to the forecast.

The snow is expected to taper off by Saturday morning or early Saturday afternoon, making roads slippery, the National Weather Service predicts.

Some sections of Morris County, like Long Valley, are under a Winter Storm Warning for the storm. For anyone who needs to travel, they should carry food, water and an extra flashlight, the National Weather Service suggested.

Saturday: Snow, mainly before noon. High near 19. Wind chill values as low as -2. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 6. Wind chill values as low as -7. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 22. Wind chill values as low as -7. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 9. Calm wind.
