NJ Woman Charged In DWI Crash That Injured 2 Sparta Residents

WEST MILFORD, NJ - A New Jersey woman was charged with driving under the influence Saturday following a serious crash that injured two people, authorities said.

The crash was reported at around 4 p.m. in the area of 190 Lakeside Road, West Milford police said in a statement.

An initial investigation found that a 2006 Toyota two-door sedan, driven by Jessica Lima, 38, of West Milford, crossed the centerline and collided with a 2015 BMW X5 driven by David Thierman, 71, of Sparta.

Lima was transported via helicopter to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson for serious injuries, police said.

Thierman was transported by Atlantic ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital for internal injuries. The passenger of the BMW, Alexandrova Marina, 58, of Sparta, suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention.

The investigation also found that Lima was driving while intoxicated, resulting in the following charges: DWI, speeding, failure to maintain a lane, failure to wear seatbelt, assault by auto and related charges.

Lima was issued the charges on summonses pending her appearance in Passaic County Superior Court.
