No-Cost Help With Home Improvements For Sussex County Residents

Assistance provided with home repair projects for individuals with disabilities or financial needs.

NEWTON, NJ - People within Sussex County or Pennsylvania’s Pike County needing a helping hand at home, whether it be due to finances or disabilities, may be eligible for no-cost, home repairs through the volunteer group, “Compassion Project.”

A collaborative of local churches with a heart for community outreach, volunteers are ready to help individuals in need with home repair projects.

Yard clean-up, painting, trash or debris removal, power washing, minor deck repair, weeding, repairing cabinets and handling recycling, are just a few of the types of home repair and cleanup tasks the Compassion Project may be able to assist with.

“It’s something we do to bless the community after all that God has done for us,” said Brian Ingraham, a spokesperson for the group.

Ingraham said there are church families involved with the Compassion Project eager to serve the community through the initiative, which is taking applications through its deadline date of June 1.

After applying, Ingraham said during a phone interview with Patch, that the group will reach out to applicants they are able to assist, to further discuss a project or projects an applicant needs help with.

“Project requests will be evaluated and chosen based on scope and need,” according to the group’s website.

The Compassion Project will then work on the selected home repairs between June 21 and June 26.
