Snow, Wind Gusts Could Hit Hopatcong, Sparta

Sussex County's Office of Emergency Management has provided more details about the upcoming storm.

HOPATCONG, NJ — A winter storm making its way into New Jersey could leave behind up to 5 inches of snow in the Hopatcong and Sparta area, according to National Weather Service predictions.

In Hopatcong on Friday night after 1 a.m., the National Weather Service forecasts an inch of snow could be left behind as the storm begins. As Saturday starts, the snow is expected to continue until about 1 p.m., with up to another 4 inches possible through its end. Saturday's portion of the storm could also deliver wind gusts up to 30 mph and -1 degree wind chills.

Friday Night: Snow likely, mainly after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 13. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday: Snow likely, mainly before 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 18. Wind chill values as low as -1. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Saturday Night: A chance of snow before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 6. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
