NEW JERSEY — New Jersey State Sen. Steven Oroho, R-24th Dist., was selected during a caucus meeting on Thursday to be the Senate Republicans' next leader beginning in January.

Oroho was re-elected to his seat in this past Tuesday night's General Election, declared the winner overnight by the Associated Press over his Democratic opponent Frederick Cook, along with incumbent Assemblymen from his district, Parker Space and Harold “Hal” Wirths.

“It’s an honor to have the opportunity to serve my colleagues in this new role as Senate Republicans work to get New Jersey back on track,” said Oroho. We’ll work tirelessly to ensure that government respects people’s rights, addresses their concerns, and makes living in the Garden State more affordable for everyone.”

Having been led by Sen. Tom Kean Jr., R-21st Dist., since 2008, Kean decided not to run again and is focusing on his Congressional run.
