HOWELL, NJ — Summer is almost over for Howell students. The first day of school in the Howell Township School District is Monday, Sept. 9.

If you are new to Howell and need to register your child for school, the Howell Township Schools educate preschool through eighth grades. Registration information is on the website.

In the event there are any emergency closings, two days have been built-in to the calendar. If additional days due to emergency closings are necessary, they will be added in the following order: Feb. 17, (if the closure(s) are on or before Feb. 7), June 23-30.

  • Schools closed: Monday, Oct. 14
  • Halloween, early dismissal: Thursday, Oct. 31
  • Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 5
  • Parent-teacher conferences, early dismissal: Tuesday, Nov. 5-Wednesday, Nov. 6
  • NJEA Convention, schools closed: Thursday, Nov. 7-Friday, Nov. 8
  • Thanksgiving break: Early dismissal, Wednesday, Nov. 27; schools closed, Thursday, Nov. 28-Friday, Nov. 29
  • Winter break: Early dismissal, Thursday, Dec. 20; schools closed, Friday, Dec. 21-Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025
  • Staff in-service, early dismissal for students: Friday, Jan. 16
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day, schools closed: Monday, Jan. 20
  • Presidents Day, schools closed: Monday, Feb. 17
  • Staff in-service, early dismissal for students: Wednesday, March 12
  • Spring break: Early dismissal, Friday, April 11; schools closed, Monday, April 14-Friday, April 18
