COACHES DO NOT NEED TO BE RUNNERS

Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey (GOTRCNJ) needs coaches for its fall season starting the week of March 30th for Village Elementary Holmdel, Indian Hill Elementary, River Plaza Elementary, Central Elementary, Shrewsbury Elementary, Laura Donovan Elementary and Marshall Errickson. Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based, positive youth development social and emotional wellness program for girls in 3rd through 5th grades. The ten-week program incorporates running to teach critical life skills, encourage personal development and foster team building and community service. Volunteer coaches utilize a curriculum to engage teams of girls in fun, interactive lessons. Teams meet twice a week for 75 minutes for ten weeks, and the program culminates with all teams participating in a non-competitive 5k run on June 7th at Fair Haven Fields.

Volunteers provide critical leadership and the non-profit organization is currently seeking coaches to facilitate the program with teams of 8 to 20 girls.

Girls on the Run was recently included as a top research-based program in a Social-Emotional Learning Guide developed by researchers at Harvard University and has been recognized by the National Afterschool Association (NAA) as one of the most influential after-school programs in the nation.
