Livingston Township will celebrate its annual Arbor Day tree planting at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 24, near the Gazebo on Memorial Oval.

Department of Public Works Superintendent Mike Anello stated that this year, the town will celebrate with the planting of Weeping Cherry Trees, which typically flower in May.

“I hope our residents will join us in celebrating Arbor Day,” stated Mayor Michael Silverman in a release. “Trees help improve air quality by filtering out dust and particles. They help conserve water, and they give us a renewable source of fuel and food. They even provide shelter for our wildlife. Trees also increase property values and reduce energy use, and they add to the beauty of our homes and the neighborhoods in which we live, work, and play.”

“All good reasons to celebrate and plant a tree,” the mayor stated.
