Snow, Sleet and Freezing Rain: Hazardous Weather Expected in Livingston from Tuesday Afternoon to Wednesday Morning

Winter weather advisory issued for Essex and Hudson Counties: See Your Local Hour by Hour Forecast

After a three to four inch snowfall on Sunday, residents in Essex and Hudson County may be hit with even more winter weather from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning, including snow, sleet and freezing rain.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for several counties across the state, including Essex and Hudson. The advisory will remain in effect from 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, to 2 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4.

Snow accumulation of one to three inches along with “less than a tenth of an inch of ice” is expected, as well as temperatures that may reach “the lower 30s.”

According to the NWS, potential impacts from the weather may include snow-covered surfaces that are coated with ice, which will make “travel difficult at times.”

“Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities,” the NWS warned. “And use caution while driving.”

Lingering ice and snow on roadways from Sunday’s winter storm has caused speed restrictions and motor vehicle accidents throughout the state.

Tuesday Afternoon: Snow, mainly after 3pm. High near 30. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 11pm, then rain and sleet between 11pm and midnight, then rain after midnight. Temperature rising to around 35 by 3am. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. South wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Wednesday: Rain, mainly before 9am. High near 42. Wind chill values between 30 and 40. West wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
