10K Lose Power In Long Branch, Eatontown Amid Isaias

Almost all of West Long Branch lost power, according to JCP&L.

LONG BRANCH, NJ — More than 10,000 have lost power in Long Branch and Eatontown as Tropical Storm Isaias traveled up the East Coast. At least one major road in the area remains closed because of downed wires, according to 511NJ.

Route 36 by Route 71 in West Long Branch closed in both directions at about 3:15 p.m. after the storm knocked down wires. All lanes are closed and detoured, according to state officials.

The storm caused outages for 6,124 customers in Long Branch — 39.88 percent of customers, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.

Nearly everyone in West Long Branch lost power as the borough sustained 2,960 of 2,992 customers sustained outages. JCP&L has reported 4,392 Eatontown outages out of 7,150 customers.

The aforementioned statistics reflect totals as of 4 p.m. JCP&L has not estimated when power will return at this time.
