Another Calm, Sunny Day At Monmouth County Beaches

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ - There's just one more week before Labor Day and the opening of schools. So head to the beach on this sunny late summer day and enjoy it while you can.

There's a low risk of rip currents today. But rips can occur anyplace, anywhere, especially near jetties and other structures. Check with your local beach patrol about any problem areas. Never swim on an unguarded beach and never, ever swim alone or at night. The National Weather Service advises swimmers to use a flotation device in the water.

Skies today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 90 degrees, even at the beach. There is no lightning threat. Winds will be from the west at 5 miles per hour, becoming southwest in the afternoon. The heat will ramp up on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Waves will be around 2 feet, with light swells. The ocean water temperature is 73 degrees, but that can vary depending upon what beach you go to. The ultraviolet index is an 8, which the NWS considers very high. So bring your sunscreen, or you'll be hurting tonight.

High tide at Belmar arrived at 8:35 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 2:39 p.m., followed by another high tide at 8:46 p.m.
