Another Scorcher Today, So Head To Monmouth County Beaches

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for today

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ - The beach may be the only place you'll be able to find some relief from the torrid temperatures inland today.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 8 p.m. tonight. The heat index values are expected to hit between 100 and 105 degrees on the mainland. The highs at Monmouth County beaches are expected to be around 90 degrees, which will seem positively chilly. The heat is expected to break near the end of the week.

Skies will be sunny. Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour. There is no lightning threat.

There's a low risk of rip currents today. But rips can still occur at anytime, anyplace, especially near jetties and other structures. So be sure to check with your local beach patrol about any problem areas. Never swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS advises that you always bring a flotation device with you in the water.

Waves today will be around 2 feet, with southerly swells of 2 feet. The ocean water temperature is 75 degrees, but that could vary depending upon which beach you visit.

The ultraviolet index today is an 8, which the NWS considers very high. So don't forget your sunscreen.
