While it's still unknown when the lanes will be installed, the city of Long Branch received $4.7 million from the county to put them in.

Other improvements funded by that $4.7 million include pedestrian and traffic signal upgrades at 15 intersections along Cedar Avenue, dedicated left-turn lanes and high-visibility crosswalks.

"We want to thank Director Tom Arnone and the Monmouth County Commissioners for their continued commitment to improving bicycle and pedestrian safety in Long Branch," said Long Branch Mayor John Pallone.

The funding from the county was just announced this week, so it is still too early to know when the bike lanes will be painted, said a spokeswoman for the city of Long Branch.
