LONG BRANCH, NJ — Monmouth County is installing a new traffic light at the intersection of Brighton Avenue and Ocean Blvd. in Long Branch.

It should be completed by the end of April, County Commissioner Tom Arnone announced Jan. 22.

This is part of the roadwork happening on Ocean Blvd. between West End Court and West End Avenue. The county is also installing bike lanes there, ADA-compliant ramps and new curbs and sidewalks.

Monmouth County says it will improve safety "along this busy beachfront area," and the whole project "should be substantially completed by the end of April, in time for the 2024 summer season."

What's been done so far: The contractor is done the majority of the work, having installed new curbs and sidewalks, a new concrete median, drainage, milling and paving and put in the underground traffic signal equipment.

The next and final steps are to install the aboveground traffic light, some concrete work and the decorative pavement surface coating — as weather permits.
