Brookdale Signs Game Design Transfer Agreement With UArts in Philly

Providing accessible pathways for students to pursue their passions in the dynamic field of game art.

Brookdale Community College (Brookdale) and University of the Arts (UArts) in Philadelphia, PA, have signed a Direct Transfer Agreement. This transformative agreement is designed to create a smooth and direct pathway for students completing Brookdale's Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Game Design program, paving the way for their seamless transfer into the esteemed Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (BFA) in Game Art program at UArts. This collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment to fostering educational accessibility and excellence within the dynamic realm of game design.

The Agreement, set to take effect in the 2023-2024 academic year, extends a unique opportunity for Brookdale graduates to secure first-semester junior status at UArts, upon fulfilling specific criteria. This collaborative initiative aims to streamline the transfer process, opening doors for students choosing to pursue advanced studies in game design.

To qualify for admission under the Agreement, Brookdale students must meet several requirements, including obtaining an AAS in Game Design, maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, earning a C or higher in transferable courses, and applying to UArts with a waived application fee. Successful applicants must enroll at UArts within one year of graduating from Brookdale, having attended no other institutions in the interim.

For those meeting the outlined criteria, admission to UArts will be granted at the first-semester junior level. However, students whose portfolios fall short during the application review may be admitted with sophomore status. The Agreement underscores the commitment of both institutions to fostering a smooth transition for aspiring game designers. Notably, Brookdale students have no binding obligation to enroll at UArts after receiving admission offers. The Agreement allows students to make informed choices about their academic paths.

This agreement is a big step to make it easier for game design students to move between schools. It shows how committed Brookdale Community College and the University of the Arts are to giving students a way to follow their interests in game art.
