Burglaries At Ocean Twp. Businesses, Suspect Found Hiding In Diner

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man who police say is behind multiple break-ins to Ocean Township businesses broke into a diner last week in Ocean, and was found by police hiding in a crawl space inside the diner.

This happened April 16 at the Blue Swan diner on Rt. 35. At 2:30 a.m. Ocean Twp. Police were called there for a report of glass being broken.

When officers got there, they found a broken window at the diner. As officers searched the diner, they found the suspect, Leamon D. Washington, hiding in a crawl space of the business. He exited the crawl space and was placed under arrest.

Ocean Twp. Police say Washington is the suspect in several other commercial burglaries that occurred in recent weeks in Ocean Township and surrounding towns, but police did not name the businesses. Washington was charged with several counts of burglary, possession of burglar tools, theft and criminal mischief.
